At the turn of the century many pacific island countries came head on with many challenges that threatened the livelihood of its citizens. Classic examples of this problems are the ethnic unrest in the Solomon Islands and Fiji, continious law and order problem in PNG and sea level rise threatening smaller island nations.
Realizing the risk these problems can cause, APSD is embarking on an awareness program called SOUTH PACIFIC EDUCATION TV to educate the people of the dangers they face if measures are not taken now.
We have had a lot of success a few years ago with one of our program called TAEM LONG BIFO which means AS LIFE IS IN THE PAST or THE LIFE WE USED TO ENJOY in Solomon islands pidjin (Lingua franca). In this case we were referring to the kind of life people in the Solomon Islands use to enjoy before.
